The confirmed number of Kyrgyzstan gambling dens is a fact in a little doubt. As info from this nation, out in the very remote interior part of Central Asia, often is arduous to get, this may not be all that difficult to believe. Whether there are two or 3 approved gambling dens is the element at issue, maybe not really the most earth-shaking bit of info that we do not have.

What no doubt will be accurate, as it is of most of the ex-Soviet nations, and certainly true of those located in Asia, is that there no doubt will be a good many more not approved and backdoor gambling dens. The switch to approved wagering didn’t energize all the illegal locations to come from the illegal into the legal. So, the bickering over the number of Kyrgyzstan’s gambling dens is a small one at best: how many approved gambling dens is the thing we are attempting to answer here.

We understand that in Bishkek, the capital municipality, there is the Casino Las Vegas (an amazingly unique name, don’t you think?), which has both table games and slots. We can also see both the Casino Bishkek and the Xanadu Casino. Each of these offer 26 slot machines and 11 table games, split amongst roulette, vingt-et-un, and poker. Given the remarkable likeness in the size and layout of these two Kyrgyzstan casinos, it might be even more surprising to find that they share an address. This appears most unlikely, so we can no doubt determine that the number of Kyrgyzstan’s gambling halls, at least the accredited ones, stops at two casinos, one of them having changed their title a short time ago.

The state, in common with many of the ex-Soviet Union, has experienced something of a fast change to commercialism. The Wild East, you may say, to allude to the chaotic circumstances of the Wild West an aeon and a half ago.

Kyrgyzstan’s gambling dens are in fact worth going to, therefore, as a bit of anthropological analysis, to see money being gambled as a form of collective one-upmanship, the aristocratic consumption that Thorstein Veblen spoke about in 19th century America.
